German Brewing

Brewing Competition

Brewers of Atlantia! Noble Owain Weale, Royal Brewer of Atlantia invites you to the market festival. Be sure to bring with you a sample of your own non-alcoholic holiday beverages to enter in a friendly competition. These should be non-alcoholic brews with a seasonal flair to them, either period specific to inspiration from the German markets or something exotic imported from foreign lands that strikes you as fitting to winter celebrations. This is your opportunity to do some research outside of our usual alcoholic libations and experiment with new techniques and flavors. Get creative and have fun with this challenge. Documentation is strongly encouraged, and I will endeavor to provide feedback and discussion for each entry at my market table.

At my table I will be providing a display and documentation for grains, hops, and other ingredients used in brewing ales. I will be happy to discuss any aspect of brewing during my time at the market and hope to draw your interest about some of the differences in period vs modern ingredients. If you are planning to enter my challenge at KASF, to put your name forth to become the next Royal Brewer, this would be an excellent opportunity to chat about your craft and any questions that you might have. As ever, I look forward to sharing your company.

Brewing Roundtable

Visit the market stall display of Noble Olwain (the current Atlantian Royal Brewer) to peruse a variety of various grains/hops/yeasts and learn about their uses in medieval brewing. The display will also feature a general brewers’ discussion utilizing the materials on display. If you are planning to enter the Brewers’ Challenge at KASF (to select the next Royal Brewer), this would be an excellent opportunity to chat about your craft and any questions that you might have.
